What is Adware?

Adware can do a number of different things to your system. It can monitor and profile your web usage and direct pop up ads based on your surfing habits. There are many free-to-use programs that install Adware at the same time. When you install, make sure you read the terms and conditions of the licence agreement – it may tell you that an Adware package is installed at the same time. Adware is not as dangerous as other infections, but it can be incredibly annoying.

What are Internet Diallers?

A dialler is a type of software used by pornographic vendors. Once dialler software is downloaded the user is disconnected from their modem's usual Internet service provider and another phone number and the user is billed. While diallers do not spy on users they are malevolent in nature because they can run up huge phone bills.

What is Wireless Network Security?

If your Internet always seems slow, it's possible that someone else could be using your wireless broadband to download files without your knowledge.

Wireless network security prevents unauthorised access to your wireless broadband. If there is no security in place, your neighbours - whether they are local residents or other businesses, can connect to your wireless broadband using just two or three mouse clicks on their computer.

Wireless Security comes in several forms - basic 64-bit or 128-bit WEP Encryption, or more advanced forms such as WPA2 with TKIP or AES CCMP encryption.
