Business Broadband Kingston & Richmond

ADSL Broadband has been widely accepted as a suitable and cost effective way of connecting businesses to the Internet. We are often asked which Broadband providers are recommended for business, so we've listed our preferred options below.

You must consider a few points before buying Business Broadband:

  • Is your business a heavy user of the Internet? For example a design studio might download and upload large graphics files, whereas a clothes shop may have light Internet and e-mail usage. In any case, we can advise on the which Broadband package best meets your requirements, if you are not sure what you need.
  • Do you require a static IP? A static IP is generally a good idea for business. It allows you to host your own e-mail if required and provides better security if your going to implement VPN's or remote access to your office at some point in the future.
  • Would your business cope if the Broadband connection went down for a few hours, or even days? Although ADSL Broadband is more reliable these days, it is still possible to temporarily loose service if a fault develops. If your Internet connection is 'mission critical', we can install the necessary hardware to make your Broadband connection 'fail-over' to a backup 3G Broadband connection in the event your ADSL goes down. Please see the 3G Broadband Connection Backup section below for further details.
  • You must consider the potential security vulnerabilities your business will be exposed to. We can provide advice on appropriate security hardware and anti-virus software to protect your business from Hackers, Viruses and Spam. 3G Broadband Internet Backup

Web, e-mail and other business applications depend on a working connection, so your business can grind to a complete halt if the Broadband goes down, even if it is just for a short period of time. Some people believe that installing a secondary ADSL connection is a good solution, but this is not the case. If road works sever the BT cable between your business and the BT exchange, both ADSL connections will fail.

We can install a high-availability ADSL / 3G Router that uses a 3G connection as a secondary Broadband connection. This is a more robust solution, as 3G uses a different technology (wireless) to connect to the Internet. The 3G fail-over is completely automated, there will be no need to re-configure your computers to use the 3G connection.

3G data tariffs have dropped to reasonable levels now, typically costing around £12.77 / month for up to 3GB data usage and the latest HSDPA offering allows much faster connection speeds.
