Description

The Novatel Merlin XU870 ExpressCard has worldwide coverage with built-in tri-band HSDPA / UMTS (2100/1900/850 MHz) and quad-band EDGE / GPRS (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) frequency support. The card supports Mobile Broadband download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps out of the box and will support speeds up to 7.2 Mbps with a future firmware upgrade. The card is capable of 384 Kbps upload speeds.

The Merlin XU870 offers flexibility by fitting both ExpressCard /34 and ExpressCard /54 slots. A separate PCMCIA to ExpressCard converter is available for laptops without an ExpressCard slot. The integrated antenna design incorporates an external flip antenna, that helps to receive stronger network reception. This is further helped by the Mobile Receive Equaliser built in to the Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset, which helps maximise data throughput.
