3G Data Card Compatibility

We have compiled a list of 3G data cards (also known as 3G laptop card) and 3G USB modems that are compatible with the 3G Routers listed in our 3G Router comparison. If you plan to use the 3G data card in your laptop, be aware that data cards are available in both PC Card (also known as PCMCIA) and ExpressCard formats - make sure you choose a version compatible with your laptop and 3G router.

We have also listed the 3G USB modem manufacturers for Vodafone, Three Mobile and T-Mobile, as there are a growing number of 3G routers that support USB modems, instead of the 3G data cards. Billion 3G routers support the widest range of 3G USB modems available and are the market leaders in this field.

You can use the table below to choose a 3G router compatible with your existing 3G USB modem, or purchase a 3G USB modem for a 3G router you have already purchased - the choice is yours! If you are buying a 3G USB modem, make sure you select a tariff with enough data allowance included, to avoid out of bundle charges. Note: You may need to upgrade the firmware in your 3G data card and router to make the hardware compatible. If you buy one of our Billion routers, you can check our Billion firmware updates page.

Sonicwall TZ190 3G Owners

If you have purchased a Sonicwall TZ190 3G firewall and want a compatible Sonicwall 3G card - we can supply you will a data card and SIM with static IP. Please call 0800 3277 923 to discuss your options. We can supply an external antenna and an adapter card if you have signal level concerns.
